Sculpting: Let's explore the beauty of human form and how to sculpt torso using clay. The Art of Sculpting human torso in clay is a two-hour workshop, specially design for the beginners. No prior experience required. Join us to create Male or Female human torso with easy to follow step by step instructions. You will learn traditional sculpting techniques, improve observational skills, as well as develop interpretation and individual artistic expression.

From the statues of ancient Greece to the sculptures of the Renaissance, the human body torso has long been regarded as a symbol of beauty, strength, and perfection.  

Sculpting a naked torso requires a deep understanding of human anatomy. It allows artists to explore the range of human emotions through the physical form. Whether displayed in a museum, gallery, or in a private collection, a sculpture of a naked torso can be a powerful and captivating piece that draws the viewer in and leaves a lasting impression.

The art of sculpting the naked torso in clay: Let's explore the beauty of the human figure. The Art of Sculpting human torso in clay sculpture is a two-hour workshop, specially designed for beginners. No prior experience is required for it. You will learn how to create an armature, how to sculpt and capture the essence of a figurative torso (no head, arms, or legs) pose using earthenware clay, newspapers and wire. Join us to create a Female or Male human torso in art with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. You will learn traditional sculpting techniques, improve observational skills, as well as develop interpretation and individual artistic expression.

I do not have any sculpting experience; can I still sign up for a workshop?
Yes. This workshop is mainly designed for beginners. 

What is the purpose of sculpting a naked torso?

Sculpting a naked torso allows artists to explore the form and structure of the human body in its purest form. You can learn to create a powerful and evocative work of art.


Do we have to bring anything?
Nope. All materials and tools will be given for in-house use.

Do you use a live model?
Not in this class. You will use the bisque clay model or 3D digital drawings of a human anatomy torso. You have the option to select a male or female model.

What tools are needed for sculpting a naked torso?

There are a variety of tools used for sculpting, including chisels, rasps, and hammers, to shape the material and bring their vision to life.

Can I take my torso in sculpture home?
Yes.  It's your art. You should take it.

Can my piece be fired?
Yes, but it is optional. Studio charges $15  for firing services. Please read the details below*.

*Process of making art with clay includes many steps like sculpting, trimming, finishing, firing, and glazing. But the good news is you don't have to complete all these steps. After sculpting the shape of a torso, you take raw creation home without even firing. Your instructor will give you more advice. Our charges for additional steps are as follows:
Bisque Firing process: $15 (Optional)
Glazing & Firing: $35 (Optional)


Do I have an option not to fire my piece?
Sculptures that are left to dry and are not fired can last for years. For firing; a piece should be hollowed-out and opened fire in a ceramic kiln. We will explain the complete process in the workshop.
