Drawing Exercise 103 "Drawing upside down"
Perspective Drawing
Level: All ages
Description: This is a most enjoyable activity. Students will have fun seeing familiar objects with different, odd angles. "Much of our understanding of the world is based upon visual experience. We can change that experience by altering the way in which things appear to us."*
Materials: Pencils, Paper, Colors, Ruler, Eraser.
Objects: Hand drawn painting or picture
Activity:
Step 1: Show photograph or painting of a familiar scene or an object
Step 2: Turn it upside down and ask students to draw it from this angle.
Step 3: Do not turn picture until it completed.
At the end of the exercise, students will not only have a new visual experience but they will produce far better drawings as compared to the usual way.
Creative Questions:
Discuss the following with students.
1- Why was drawing different as compared to the usual way?
2- Is looking at things from different angles a good idea? Why or why not?
